CakePHP 3 – Remove subfolder from URLs

With CakePHP, the primary and easiest way is to install it via composer. As specified in the CakePHP installation instructions.

If you follow those instructions, you’ll end up with a subfolder in your public HTTP folder of your hosting. And even if you try to create the project directly in your main, public HTTP folder of your hosting, composer won’t do it because the folder may not be empty.

How To Fix cPanel FTP Connection Issue

I was trying to FTP into a new server I had just setup and couldn’t. I received this error message:

Server sent passive reply with unroutable address. Using server address instead

The error message was specifically in FileZilla whereas many other FTP clients may just give an error such as “Could not connect” or something similar. Then you know a connection cannot be made to the FTP server.

Install Composer on cPanel/WHM

You can install Composer globally on your server running cPanel/WHM.

I mostly use CentOS linux distro for my web servers but you can install Composer on any operating system or distribution.

To install Composer, you’ll need SSH access and preferably root or a user with the appropriate permissions to do this.
